Haunted Places In Kansas
Eldridge Hotel was one of the high-grade hotels west of the Mississippi and acted as an important part in the early growth of Lawrence and the State of Kansas. However by 1925, the hotel had started to deteriorate, when a collection of Lawrence owners determined that due to the hotel’s significence to the city, that it ought be razed and reconstructed to its onetime grandness and elegance. The people stepped up to insure the success of the project and the hotel again revealed its former grandeur.
However, by the 1960’s it had once more started to degenerate and styles had changed. Business district hotels were no more popular, given over to the numerous motels forming up on the fringes of town.In July 1970 the old hotel was changed over into new apartments.
In 1985, a fresh group of investors once again wanted to reestablish the old hotel to its onetime grandeur and the City of Lawrence backed up the plan by investing two million dollars to match the one million put up by individual investors. The top four floors of the hotel were entirely reconstructed and converted into 48 two room luxury suites and the lobby was restored to its original elegance.
It's no surprise with its robust history that the hotel persists in hosting some ghosts and spirits.
The fifth floor is said to contain a doorway to the spirit world – particularly room 506. In this room visitors have described breath marks on newly cleaned mirrors, doors opening and slamming, and lights turning on and off by themselves.
Others report cold spots throughout the old hotel. Some guests have even encountered apparitions on the fifth floor and an “elevator ghost” likes to open and close the elevator doors on the fifth floor. Several photographers have also mentioned having inexplicable technical difficulties with their equipment when near the lift.
_____________________________________________________________________ Atchison, Kansas

Atchison is proclaimed to be the most haunted town in Kansas, and there is even a haunted houses tour on the Atchison Trolley. This old town once played host to over 1500 wagons per day as settlers made their way west enroute to the gold Fields of California in the 1850’s. Some of these early settlers have evidently chosen to stay in Atchison in a ghostly form. The town is full of stories about ghostly sightings and other paranormal issues.
Atchison is located along the Missouri River and is one of one of the most scenic and historic towns in Kansas. Brick streets climb hills and wind along river bluffs, offering extensive panoramas of the river valley beyond. Stately Victorian homes with carriage houses recollect glorious days when affluent lumber merchants and railroad barons walked the streets.
The town of Atchison is so haunted that the Travel Channel has done a special segment called Haunted Town that describes several of the haunted places in Atchison, including Sallie's House, Benedictine College, and more.
The Haunted places in Atchison, Kansas:
Atchison Street
This road, once known as Ferry Street, journeys down a steep hill toward the Missouri River. Long ago locals would board the ferry at the landing at the bottom of the hill. When it was still referred to as Ferry Street, a woman traveling down the road in a buggy lost control of her horses, became unhitched from the animals and plummeted down the street into the freezing river. Trapped inside, her drowned body was never recovered. Today, men walking along the riverbank have heard a woman calling them to join her in the murky water below.
Gargoyle Home, 819 N. 4th Street
More often referred to as the
Waggener House, this turn-of-the-century home was built in 1884-1885 by B.P. Waggener, who was a lawyer and politician in the Atchison area in the late 1800’s. While gargoyles are usually erected to scare off evil spirits, legend has it that Waggener accumulated his wealth through a deal with the devil and the gargoyles were constructed in honor of the pact. It is said that the house is afflicted by an evil curse. One homeowner, who attempted to remove the gargoyles, fell to his death on the staircase. A segement on the Travel Channel reported that Kansas City Ghost Hunters, while visiting the home, picked up the presence of ghosts on their special equipment and reported having felt a presence in the house. This house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 3, 1974 and is located at 819 N. 4th Street.Jackson Park

A woman by the name of “Molly” is said to haunt this park. Supposedly, moaning and terrifying screams can be heard throughout the park around midnight. According to one legend, Molly was a beautiful young woman who was found dead in the park the day after her prom. She was found hanging by her neck to a park tree in a hollow with her clothes badly torn. Allegedly, she and her date had argued the night before and when Molly exited the car, her date drove off leaving her in the park. It was never determined if her death was by her own hand or was a murder. Though, some suspected that her prom date killed her, no one was ever charged.
Another legend of the park's haunting states that Molly was a black woman who was lynched by a white mob years ago. Rather than the eerie screams of a young prom girl, the cries instead come from the brutal slaying of an African-American Molly. In any case, the area today is known as Molly’s Hollow where couples go to "park." In addition to Molly’s chilling cries, many witnesses also claim to have seen a ghostly figure hanging in the tree where her body was discovered.
North 3rd Street Home
This home was once inhabited by an elderly, single schoolteacher named Nellie Trueblood. Companionless and bereft she died in the house. When the house was sold, the new owners began to make renovations, evidently to Nellie’s chagrin. It is said that when crews are working within the house they report seeing gleaming balls of light measuring 18-24 inches, which hover just out of reach. If approached, the lights quickly move away. Frightened the work crews quickly abandon the project before the restorations are ever completed.
Riverview Drive Home
Several strange occurrences have been reported in this house such as the television and stereo mysteriously turning on at full volume and noises from rooms where no one is occupying. On one such an occasion, the resident thought the noise was her dog and called out to him. However, instead of the dog responding to her call, an elderly woman ghostly spirit entered the room. Wrapped in a shroud, the spirit smoothed a place on the bed and sat next to the resident. Screaming, the resident ran from the room to be answered by the slamming of the attic door behind her. Another strange experience has occurred to several guests who have stayed within the house. Apparently, when guests stay in this home they are instructed to place their luggage at a space at the top of the stairs, which leads to the attic. However, the spirit seemingly doesn’t like the suitcases stored in this area because the luggage is often found tossed to the bottom of the stairs.
Kearny & 5th Street Home
According the former owners of this house, a friendly ghost lingers here. While there are many unexplained events, such as the sounds of someone walking throughout the house, this ghost is seemingly very helpful. At one point, the ghost helped the man of house into his dinner jacket. Thinking his wife had helped him he turned around to thank her, but no one was there. On another occasion, when the couple was returning home from a trip, the wife mentioned that she would love to have a cup of tea when she got home. Upon their arrival home, a teakettle was hissing and a cup, saucer, tea bag, and spoon were sitting on the counter.
Riverview Drive & R Street Home
When this home was purchased by the current owners, it came completely furnished including several paintings on the wall. Making changes to their new home, the new owners removed several of the paintings, wrapped them carefully, then placed them in the basement for storage. However, the very next day, every single painting was back in its original location.
Sallie's, the Heartland Ghost, North 2nd Street Home
Sallie, the “Heartland Ghost,” is said to haunt this house that once belonged to a local doctor. The tale of Sallie’s ghost has been featured three times on the popular 1990’s paranormal television show
Sightings, as well as Unexplained Mysteries. Long ago, six-year old Sallie grew terribly sick during the night with severe abdominal pains. Sallie’s mother rushed her to the doctor’s house, where his family lived on the upper floor and he operated his practice on the main floor.Sallie’s mother listened as the doctor diagnosed young Sallie with a severe case of appendicitis, requiring immediate surgery. The little girl panicked at the sight of the surgical tools and the doctor was forced to hold her down to give her ether.
However, in his haste, the physician did not allow the anesthesia to take its full effect and began operating. Sallie awoke during the initial incision and began fighting and wresting against the pain. Before she died, she was said to have looked at the doctor with both fear and loathing, and remains within the house to this day.
In 1993, the house was rented to a young couple who reported that Sallie made an almost immediate appearance, playing frequent pranks such turning
electrical appliances on and off, turning pictures upside down, and scattering their child’s toys about the nursery.Shortly after these harmless pranks, the ghostly activities turned malevolent, with the young husband suffering from frequent attacks. The couple also experienced a number of small spontaneous fires throughout the house. In fact, when the Sightings crew was at the house filming for the upcoming show, a red welt appeared on the stomach of the man and then began to bleed. The man, who described a severe drop in temperature prior to the attacks, would often be left with a number of long bloody scratches.
At their wits end, a psychic was consulted who informed the couple that there were actually two spirits within the house. The psychic indicated that it was not Sallie who was responsible for the malevolent activities, but rather a ghostly woman of about 30.
While Sallie may have been responsible for the harmless pranks, it was this older woman who was the evil one. Allegedly, this mysterious woman was, at first, fond of the gentleman who lived in the house and tried to get close to him, while at the same time, attempting to drive a wedge between he and his wife. When she was unsuccessful at this, she began to attack the husband. Finally, after the husband felt a strong shove from behind that nearly sent him over the stair railing, the couple could no longer take it and moved from the house.
Since, this couple has moved, later residents have reported no activity occurring in the house.
In April, 2005 Legends of America visited the Sallie House with Jerry Talbert, an Atchison resident in November, 2004. Jerry and his crew have continued their investigations and reported recording audio of several sounds in the house during their 60 hour investigation. These include audio of little girl singing and playing, one that sounds like little boy, one of a man, and another of at least one woman, maybe two. Other recordings include the sounds of coins hitting a wood floor, footsteps, thumps, growls and whispers. Often when the crew is talking, other voices have been heard interacting with their conversations. Jerry concludes that the house is still haunted, though there is nothing left that is evil. He continues by expressing his opinion that whatever malevolent presence was there when the young couple lived at the house, left when they did.
Glick Mansion, 503 North Second Street
Construction on the Glick Mansion was began in 1873 by George Washington Glick.

Along with the rest of Atchison, the Glick Mansion is also said to have a ghost of its own rattling around in this century old home. Allegedly, the strange sounds heard in the night are that of a resident benevolent ghost. The sounds of doors being opened and inexplicably closed by unseen forces is a common occurrence, as well as the sounds of footsteps when no one is around.
McInteer Villa
This stately mansion, called the McIntee
r Villa, at 1301 Kansas Avenue was built by Irish Immigrant, John McInteer in 1890. The villa was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 26, 1975 and odd phenomena is reported in the mansion, including lights turning on and off in the tower, which does not have electricity. People walking or driving past the building have often reported seeing figures at the windows when no one is in the house. Figures have often been reported to appear in photographs taken inside the old villa.Benedictine College
Located on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River, the 150 year old Benedictine College, is also said to be haunted. Not by evil spirits, this historic college is said to remain home to the spirits of some of the old monks who founded the institution more than a century and a half ago. Continuing to look after and protect the old school, at least one of these spirits is known to be lurking about Ferrell Hall, a campu
s dormitory. It all began in 1858, when the monks opened a boarding school with just six students. The following year, St. Benedict’s College was officially opened with 16 students. From there, the college continued to grow into the beautiful 120 acre campus which now serves the educational needs of over 1000 students. The Benedictine College is said to be haunted by the
monks that built this institution more than 150 years ago.
At another dormitory called Memorial Hall, several eerie things have been known to occur. According to legend, a coed once gave birth to a baby in the closet of her room. Unlike most dormitories, the walk-in closets are very large at Memorial Hall. Alas, the poor girl's baby later died. Today, students in this dorm have often reported the feeling of a child climbing into their beds with them at night.
Another girl who was in her closet changing, when the dresser mysteriously moved in front of the door. When she tried to open the door, it wouldn't budge. Immediately believing her roommate was playing a prank on her, she yelled out "haha, very funny, let me out." However, her roommate wasn't even in the room. It wasn't until she began to scream at the top of her lungs, that someone finally came to her rescue.
Another girl reported that while she was at the mirror in her room, her desk chair began to rock, then suddenly stopped. Frightened she immediately left the room, and was to afraid to return for some time.
While all manner of ghostly occurrences have been reported at the college, they are seemingly harmless to the students of Benedictine College.
Muchnic House – Built in 1885, this old home was h
ost to frequent Saturday night parties. On one such evening, the event ran into the wee hours of Sunday morning. Having been kept up very late, a maid who had worked the party the prior evening overslept the next morning. Rushing from her bedchamber, she ran down the back staircase to the kitchen and fell to her death. Today, witnesses report that lights from the back staircase turn on and off by themselves on Sunday mornings, followed by the smell of cooking bacon from the kitchen when no one is there. This house, which serves as an Art Gallery today, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 12, 1974 and is located at 704 N. 4th Street. The Majestic House, 18936 262nd Road
This large three story native stone structure was built by the Brothers of St. Benedict’s Abbey in 1890. The building served as a Bed and Breakfast In
n for several years and was said to have been haunted by the old monks of Atchison. Both the owners and guests often reported hearing noises coming from the Music Room, that was once a chapel in the old building. Others have heard the sounds of doors opening and closing, seemingly on their own, and footsteps in the hallway, when no one was there. Sounds were often heard by people on the first floor coming from the story above, when no guests were in residence. Said to been a benevolent spirit, the owners of the B&B believed that their unearthly guest was that of an old monk, who continued to linger protecting the old building.Theatre Atchison, 401 Santa Fe Street
Built in 1913, as the First Church of Christ, Scientist, the building was modeled after the architectural lines of its Mother Church in Boston. In 1973, the Presbyterian Church bought the building and ten years later they created a community theater organization. Today the Building is known as the Presbyterian Community Center and is home to Theatre Atchison. Allegedly, it is also home to an unearthly spirit. Guests often describe feeling an unknown presence with them while visiting the theatre, while others working in the building describe odd noises that are often heard that have no apparent earthly cause.
The Santa Fe Depot
Built in 1880 as a freight depot for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, the old depot stands as a landmark to Atchison's historic past.
The Depot is reportedly haunted by the ghost of "Hangman Bill," a railroad worker known for his habit of hanging from freight being loaded on and off cars. However, this prankish skill got him killed one day when the cable carrying one of the loads snapped and he was buried beneath the freight cargo. At the Santa Fe Depot today, staff reports hearing the sound of footsteps coming from above; however the depot does not have a second floor.

Haunted Places in Romania
A more friendly ghostly presence haunts a gay bar in Geneva, Switzerland. In Saragossa, Spain, the Palazon family holds conversations with a voice speaking from a stovepipe that identified itself as Duenda de Zaragoza, a person who lived in the house in the 1930s. The ghost of Joan of Arc haunts the basilica at Domremy dedicated to her memory, and the entire court of Marie Antoinette appears in the gardens of Trianon in Versailles. Most of the sightings are of a demon dog and a little girl sacrificed by devil worshippers at the site. At Euro Disney in France, a mysterious vortex of energy haunts the small children's section. Major Helmut Rathenau met her in a casino in Badden Baden and died of a heart attack. To this day, the Baroness Russlein von Altebar seeks her revenge, first appearing as a beautiful courtesan then turning into a rotting corpse. Another well-heeled female ghost appears to descendents of Count Johannes Rathenau, an Austrian noble who slaughtered the defenders of Schloss Altebar in Bavaria during the Middle Ages. The short dark-featured spirit is thought to be Princess Perchta von Rosenberg, who haunts the descendents of her cruel husband.
It has been seen scores of times in a clearing near Corroboree Springs, which is about 100 miles from Alice Springs. However, Australia's best documented ghost is known simply as the Ghost of the Outback. Lutwyche Cemetery ghosts are presaged by the "smell of death;" singing white lights haunt Toowong Cemetery; and apparitions dart across the roads in Bridgeman Downs Cemetery. Brisbane cemeteries are also hotspots of paranormal activity. One is an elegant woman, another a maintenance man who continually rides the elevator that killed him in a freak accident, and the last is an American sailor stabbed to death in a fight with another sailor in the downstairs tearoom. Brisbane in Queensland is the most haunted city in Australia and locations covered from that city will include the Old Government House, the Parliament House, and the Brisbane Arcade, and City Hall, where at least three ghosts haunt the hallways. Nestled among the modern homes is the cities oldest cemetery and it contains graves that go back to the 1840s and continue to this day. There are rumors of a small boy bouncing a ball down one of the hallways late at night Shakopee - Howard's Edition Cemetery - Not far from the local racetrack lies the site of one of the first farms that lead to the eventual settlement of Shakopee. Unfortunately, some of these caves have been closed up. There are also several caves in the park, with strange goings-on reported.

The reason for that is many Mayo Clinic patients occupied in that hotel and have past away. Rochester - Kahler Hotel - It has been rumored that there has been numerous complaints and unusual encounters. The upper balcony is where there has been spiritual activity spotted. And haunting footsteps Richfield - The Academy of Holy Angels - Theater - There have been sightings of spirits in the theatre. September 2004 Correction: A former student has informed us the above information is incorrect. Rumors of the ghost still lurking around.
Renville - Vicksburg Cemetery - One of the grave stones glows, in the spring for a short time the flowers that grow there bleed. People see the little boy usually on the 2nd floor. One in specifically is a little boy who died in the Hospital because his mother abused him and then left him at the Hospital to die. There is many reports of the people that maintain the building that there is 5 to 10 ghosts in the building. Redford Township - Redford Hospital - The Redford Hospital is abandoned but the spirits still live there. Redby - Behind the Westbrook Stare - In the summer after raining if you look north towards the sawmill a man should be walking from there carrying a bundle of tools in his right arm. The ghost is seemingly harmless. They also said that further away from the church they heard a woman scream coming from the church.
The farmer never forgave himself for not going to the church that night.A few people have said that they had seen a figure of the woman roaming around the graveyard behind the church and the church itself at night. Two African fellows were traveling through at the time and the death was placed on them. Being that murders were placed on the shoulders of Africans in that time it is no surprise that it was in this case either. Randall - Little Falls - Darling Church - Early after being built it is said that two African American men kidnapped and murdered a woman in the church. Witnesses have heard voices, footsteps, when it was horribly windy while calm outside the cemetery, and have seen a white apparition. Reports of misty headlights pull in and vanish before your eyes.

Haunted Places in Delaware
New Castle - David Finney Inn - third floor is haunted by unknown ghost
Newark - Cooches Bridge - First Battle of the American Revolution where the Stars and Stripes was flown in Battle. Delaware militiamen were delaying the British forces who landed at Turkey Point in Maryland so as to give General Washington time to escape from Philadelphia. One legend states that during the initial skirmish between the militia and the Redcoats, a British soldier got his head shot off. On foggy moonless nights people claim to see a Headless British Soldier walking along the roads in the area. There are many other stories associated with the area.
Newark - Deer Park Inn and Tavern - Main Street- Has be remolded several times but back in the 1800s slaves were traded on the porch. It is said that Edgar Allen Poe wrote "The Raven" there. Once a popular dive for the college kids, the wait staff used to tell stories of sounds on the stairs(which were closed off at the time) when opening or closing the bar. Of course no one was there. Often the front doors would swing as if someone entered, but again, no one was there.
Newark - Lums Pond State Park - In the early 70's a runaway girl was taken into the woods and killed here. The killer was never caught but sometimes a pleading high pitched voice and muffled screams can be heard from the woods just off the Swamp Forest hiking trail which goes around Lums Pond.

Newark - The Valley - A long and windy road near the Pike Creek area that many have sighted eyes, herd screams at night, had things run in front of their cars, seen things chasing their cars, accidents are a near miss on this dark and creepy road. The trees that line it seem to fallow you and bend down towards your passing car, the woods seem to move with you instead of being passed, keep your eyes open and your foot on the break while driving this haunted road. There is also somewhere on this road a tree said to have had an abandoned baby placed in it to die, sometimes if brave passersby stop they can hear the tree "crying" the distinct sound of an infant crying in the darkness surrounds visitors.
Seaford - Maggie's Bridge - You can see Maggie walk down the creek, strange things happen to your car.
Smyrna - Black Diamond Rd. - development on this road is said to be built on top of an Indian Graveyard. Some things can be pretty creepy at night. Lights glow in the distance and people who live in those houses in the development say that when taking pictures of family and friends orbs appear in pictures maybe to appear to be an Indian.
Smyrna - Blevins House - Balls of light, voices, the feeling of that you are not alone, figures walk around, spirit of a dog named Pee-Wee barks. dead neighbor walks on the property in the shape of a vortex. man with no face looks through the window of the living room. Man who?s skull was crushed INSIDE a tree walks on the premises with no head supposedly looking for it.
Smyrna - Cry Baby Bridge - The bridge is said to be haunted by a baby that was born deformed and his teenage mother threw him off the bridge because of his condition. He is said to have monstrously strong legs and he knocks over trees with them when he throws fits crying for his mother. There are trees fallen over all around the bridge. People go there to party and get more than what they were looking for. Car doors lock and windows roll down by themselves and the car begins to roll backwards. Once you are there, the baby doesn?t want you to leave, thinking you?re its long lost mother and it doesn?t want to lose you again.
Smyrna - Union St. - Girl in white dress floating through hallway, chairs turned around backwards, objects misplaced and moved, all electrical objects turned on.
Sussex County - Cypress Swamp - The road alone leading to the swamp is creepy but it also has been said that late at night you can hear voices coming from the woods.
Wilmington - Bancroft Academy - In girls bathroom lights go off you see red eyes glowing and see that they are looking at you.
Wilmington - Dead President's Tavern - This tavern is a very old building (200 years or so) and has had many waiters/waitresses complain of dishes being thrown at them, screaming, dominoes floating from the game boards in the recreation room, and other poltergeis-like incidents and activity, all supposedly related to the ghost of a former customer who was a big prankster (circa 1950's) named lemonade Mullery, who ended up having the last laugh as he slipped in a puddle of urine in the men's room and broke his neck in the late 60's. An odd but true tale, and a strange presence can fairly easily be felt in Dead President's, even by non-psychic individuals.
Wilmington - Rockwood Mansion - balls of light and strange sounds are observed here.
Woonsocket - Mount Saint Charles Academy - Supposedly one of the former Brothers or the Sacred Heart (The brothers that run the high school)had died and was so disliked that the students stuck pencils in his eyes at his funeral. Haunted Places In San Francisco
Abandoned Army Hospital ~ Many soldiers died and their ghosts still haunt this hospital in Park Presidio. It is fenced off, but you can find ways either under the fence or over it. Many windows have been boarded up but a basement door towards the back of the building is open. Also, many windows are busted out and it is musty, graffiti-filled, and very spooky. You can hear footsteps, see reflections of light, and sometimes a cold draft. Even S.F.P.D. will not enter. - The police patrol the area and it is VERY possible you will get arrested or ticketed.
Abraham Lincoln High School ~ late at night, toilet paper can be heard unraveling in the girl's bathroom by the main office. also, in the girl's bathroom by the band room, feet can be seen in the stall when no one else is there and someone whispering "hi". And the room by the cafeteria is locked and no one is allowed in there because a girl was raped and murdered in that room.
Alcatraz ~ Voices in the former eating area as well as the cell blocks are heard when no one else is around. Footsteps and the sounds of cell doors opening and closing also echo throughout the corridors. People have reported feeling "cold spots" in certain areas and the feeling that they are not alone, even when they are.
Bay Bridge ~ While driving on the lower deck at night towards Oakland direction, drivers would hear knocking on the windows. Some saying that they saw a headless man running next to their cars at the same speed of the cars. He was believed to be the victim of the 1989 earthquake.
Cameron House ~ Located on Sacramento St. in Chinatown, San Francisco. Once owned by Lady Cameron, the basement of the house was a refuge for Chinese immigrant from lives of prostitution and slavery, among the obvious discrimination and hell that was once Chinatown. She sealed the doors in the basement to protect the immigrants from inspections by the police. If she can't open the doors, they can't inspect and then arrest and possibly kill the rooms of people. However, the people were able to come in and out through a secret passageway. Apparently, rumors spread about her philanthropy and some people came and burned down the house. Everyone in the rooms died. Now, the restored Cameron House (turned church) sends chills up spines. The basement doors are still sealed, but every door contains a red charm and a gold charm to seal in the spirits, as well. Furthermore, the pipes that run along the ceiling run to the end of the hall forming an "X" over a door with the script: "do not enter." Photographs taken in the house have shown white figures in the background. Supposedly, these photos are nonchalantly mingled in with normal ones and kept in photo albums at the site. This possibly happened around the 1930's or so. It might be the late 1800's or the early 1900s. Most likely early 1900's.
CCS Elementary School ~ There is an urban legend of an elderly church-going woman who was murdered by being pushed from a steep staircase, and whose body was later disposed of in the nearby dumpster. It is said that when young girls use the bathroom near the staircase, you can hear her praying. Hail Mary...
Golden Gate Park ~ There's a police officer ghost that roams Golden Gate Park. People will get pulled over and get speeding tickets by this guy, but when they go to file it through the courts they'll find out that the officer listed doesn't exist. He's been dead for 10 years. Anyway, the story goes that if a cop in the park is trailing you, you need to go outside of the park first before you pull over. And once you do, the ghost cop will disappear.
Haskell House ~ ghost of Senator Broderick pacing back and forth.
Neptune Society Columbarium ~ Located at One Loraine Court, San Francisco. Originally part of the Odd Fellows Cemetery, the Columbarium still stands over Geary Boulevard near Stanyan Street. This repository of the dead is not only wonderful eye candy, but has been a place of ghostly sightings as well. One encounter included a visitor having felt a hand on her back. When the woman turned around, no one was there. But a eerie white handprint remained on her blouse. Now a registered city landmark, the Columbarium is open to the public. Donations are encouraged.
Ocean Beach Sutro Bath - The sutro baths have quite a history behind them, as well as the tunnel that lies directly to the right of the old sunken building. It has been said that many people have been sacrificed at the end of this tunnel, and if you go at night fall and light a candle at the end of the tunnel someone will come and pick it up and throw it into the water that rushes up just beyond the rocks.
Orchard Supply Hardware ~ There is a story of girl being murdered and raped in the warehouse area of the store 1 yr before it became Orchard. Employees have seen a figure walking and she is heard footsteps that seem to be the sound of high heels (No one wears high heels), screaming and laughing, as well as boxes moving. She likes to blow in men's ears and girls with long hair often feel a slight tug. One report of a worker that had just shrunk wrapped a pallet. The power went out and there is a 5 sec delay for the generator to kick on in that 5 sec something completely unwrapped the pallet.
Queen Anne Hotel ~ Located at the corner of Sutter And Octavia, the Queen Anne Hotel is an elegant Victorian style hotel, which dates back to the 1890's. With free access to all of the floors and some of the rooms, it's a great place to perform an investigation. If you want you can spend a night or so in Miss Mary Lakes Room. Before the hotel even was a hotel, it was a school for girls since few girls had access to schools back then. Miss Mary Lake was the teacher. She was dedicated to her work. But when the school was closed down she was heart broken and as she eventually died. Her spirit remained. Room 410 top floor is where you can find her room.
San Francisco Arts Institute ~ Supposedly built on a cemetery in the early 1900 after an earthquake, it is haunted by a few restless spirits.
Strawberry Hill ~ Stowe Lake Golden Gate Park - It has been said that in the 1920's or 30's a woman became pregnant & hide the pregnancy from her family. She disposed of the child and killed her self in the reservoir. At night if you're at Stowe Lake you may see her walking around Strawberry Hill looking for her baby.
The Mansions Hotel ~ The ghost of the original owner's daughter, Claudia, can be seen and heard by staff and guests. She has also been known to communicate to "yes" and "no" answers.>
Trinity Episcopal Church ~ Reports a gray figure coming out of the men's bathroom and disappear through the wall on the other side of the hall. Also experienced, strange drafts, 3 directional; shadow of a person, and an apparition in a white suite.
USCF Medical Center ~ Intensive Care Nursery haunted by women that have died in childbirth. Many children haunt Pediatric. 8th floor was so bad it had to be exorcised.

Haunted Places In Florida
St. Augustine is not only one of America’s oldest cities but is also believed among its most haunted. Many people don't leave St. Augustine without some sort of paranormal experience.
The Casablanca Bed and Breakfast
has a long history of ghostly apparitions. The inn, situated near the harbor, is considered to be haunted by the ghost of the old lady who not only inhabited the premises but also assisted bootleggers. Legend tells of the woman alerting her cohorts by waving a lantern in the night air. Today, people moving on the harbor claim to see the lantern swinging, letting them know that the coast is clear.
The Castillo de San Marcos is an old Spanish fort located in St. Augustine. People touring the facility have been known to hear yelling, screaming and cannon fire. The apparition of a young soldier has been seen staring longingly at the nearby harbor. However, when approached, the apparition will vanish.
St. Augustine has seen its share of catastrophe through the centuries. The yellow fever epidemic took an tremendous toll on the city’s populace. One victim of the epidemic, a young girl named Elizabeth, was found dead by the city’s gates. Travelers have seen the ghostly image of the girl in a white dress dancing along the gates in the wee hours of the morning.
Orlando is renowned for being the location of Disney World, one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Although travelers come from all over the globe to enjoy its lavish theme parks and resorts, Orlando is also home to a number of haunted sites.
The Peabody Hotel is one of the more popular luxury hotels located in Orlando and is known for its Peabody Duck march. However, the hotel is not exempt from hauntings. A number of people have experienced unexplained cold spots in various parts of the hotel. There have also been reports of apparitions in the hallways.
Not all ghostly apparitions are friendly. In Orlando’s Rouse Road Cemetery, the specter of a man from the mid 1800’s is believed to haunt the premises. A sudden chill in the air followed by the sounds of an owl signals his appearance. It is believed that the man’s spirit is angry and restless while his body lies buried in an unmarked grave.
Not far from Orlando is one of the country’s most popular seaside destinations. Young and old alike flock to Daytona Beach each year to bask in the sun and to have an opportunity to have a ghostly encounter. The main stretch of interstate that connects Daytona Beach to Orlando has had a number of ghostly sightings. On a number of occasions, particularly on a long, lonely piece of roadway, a apparitional car was reported. The vehicle winds along the roadway without switching its lights on. When somebody gets nearer to the car, it abruptly vanishes.
Daytona’s Orange Avenue Bridge is another notable haunted place. Many visitors have reported seeing a woman dressed in nightwear walking along the bridge. The woman inexplicably disappears when anyone has came near her.
Gainesville. Gainesville is most well recognized for being the home of the University of Florida. Even the university can boast an assortment of ghastly events.
Built in the early 1900’s, the university’s Thomas Hall Dormitory is one of the oldest buildings on campus. It is believed that the ghost of a previous employee still haunts the property where he spent much of his time. Banging on the dorm’s heating system can be heard even when it is not engaged. A terrible accident in the building that houses the College of Education took the lives of a number of little kids. Today, a person visiting the place can hear the laughter and voices of the children who are still playing in the corridors after all these years.
Although not in addition to acknowledged as some other cities in Florida, Brooksville still has its percentage of hauntings. Brooksville’s Spring Hill Graveyard has been in use since the 1800’s. People have reported seeing ghosts drifting about the gravestones of assorted family members. Voices and a toddlers crying can be heard during the dark hours.
The Brooksville Heritage Museum was once a private residence before being changed. Some think the former owners of the mansion still wander the property. A number of unexplained visions and disturbances, such as loud whispers and slamming doors, have occurred.

We appreciate all suggestions, and so we are adding this at the top of the list-
Mount Laurel/ Hartford road haunted house:
Ok, the house was torn down sometime prior to 2005 but was a real creepy place. It was on a dirt road off of Hartford rd., the locals used to go there for a scare. Heard toys moving, balls bouncing, mumbling voices, screaming, doorknobs turning, a real freakshow. If anyone has been to the spot where the house was and experienced anything, or knows any history behind it, leave a cooment.
